Who we are
Jean Navarre
Jean Navarre (pictured with her granddaughter Kira) is a long time resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan where she founded Emerson School in 1973. With Ruth-Knoll (a former Concord parent) she also helped establish Summers-Knoll School. Prior to founding these schools, Jean Navarre, spent five years in the classroom preparing college bound high school students for college in the subjects of English, speech and drama. She obtained her B.A. from Dennison University and her M.A. from the University of Michigan. She spends much of her time on Vashon Island, in Puget Sound near Seattle.
Her passion is and always has been the lives of the intellectually gifted who are on a road less traveled with all its joys and challenges. She provides consulting, and guidance services.
